When was the first gay pride parade in san francisco
There were hundreds of different vendors/food tents and it all took place at the Civic Center Plaza. Highlight of the day was seeing Orange is the New Black stars Danielle Brooks (Taystee) and Selenis Levya (Gloria Mendez) during the parade! I’m obsessed with that show…if you haven’t jumped on that bandwagon head on over to Netflix and binge watch it, after you read all my posts of course.Īt the end of the parade there was a HUGE party going on. When we were there it felt like there were 2 million it was so crowded. Apparently there were over a MILLION people that attended the parade, I honestly wasn’t that surprised. Well, The parade lasted 7.5 HOURS.we only lasted about 4 hours. We headed out early in the morning and decided to post up towards the end of the parade on Market & 8th Street. The parade took place on June 28th and started at 10:30AM. Here are some pictures to prove it (WARNING: Nudity ahead…because duh it’s pride weekend.) Apparently, it’s legal to walk around buck naked during this event…alright I’m cool with that. I was overwhelmed with all the penises and boobs I saw, which is saying a lot since I’m a nurse.
We really didn’t know what to expect, but we were not disappointed. Well anyways this historical decision was announced just a few days before the annual gay pride parade here in San Francisco and guess who only lives about 4 blocks away from the festivities…us! So maybe you haven’t heard but our government finally got their shit together and legalized gay marriage! Yay!
